Eding CNC is looking for new embedded software engineers.

What have 3D printed objects and Ikea furniture in common? Both need CNC control to be able to create the products that users need. Eding CNC provides the ‘brains’ that drive these machines in creating products. Our CNC controllers are in use all over the world, so an international mindset is important.

You are part of our development team (3 persons) and are responsible for improving our software, adding new features, improving it. This can be because you have a great idea, or perhaps because a customer came up with a new idea. Sometimes it might be a quick solution, other times it involves a little more research on how to do that. Our software consists of a UI part and the core piece of (real-time) software that runs on a PC and parts that run on our hardware, our CNC controller. When developing new features for our embedded software you need to be able to consider things like timing issues, communication delays. Improvements to our software can also involve changing the software on the controllers (firmware) itself, understanding how an embedded controller is programmed and how timing issues impact the software is of course also very important.

A part of the job involves supporting customers who have questions. Questions can come in from all over the world since our products are used everywhere in the world. Most of them through email, but sometimes customers need support by phone. So, feeling comfortable with explaining things to customers helps. We use different online tools in improving the way we help customers, the end goal being customers finding their answers without our need. We use modern tools like ticket systems, support portals, and manuals that are in the cloud to make sure that customers can help themselves, but we’re always open to good ideas to improve this.

We have the ambition to become a world player in the field of CNC control. That means you will also be involved in thinking about how to achieve this, what’s the next step in our products that will bring us closer to that goal? As Eding CNC employee you will have a lot of responsibility in organizing our work. You are always welcome to talk about how to improve things.
